Not knowing when a patient is allowed to drive again can be an important issue, here is a rough guide according to Australian (and New Zealand) law.

Chronic Epilepsy

Not for 2 years

Isolated Seizure

Not for 3-6 months

Recently diagnosed Epilepsy

Not for 3-6 months

Recurrent seizure in a previously stable person

Not for 3 months since last seizure

Seizure causing accident

Minium of 1 year

Disability of C-spine

Allowable, if driving with adequate mirrors

Visual Acuity

Not if less than 6/12

Red Colour blindness

Not for a commercial license

Visual field defects

Not if visual field along horizontal meridian is less than 120 degrees (hemianopia usually fail)

Diplopia

Not if in central 20 degrees of vision
