Comment:
The
pre‑bronchodilator FEVI, forced vital capacity and spirometric ratio are
essentially normal although the raio is low for a young child
There
is no significant response to acute bronchodilator therapy but the FEF25‑75
is mildly reduced before bronchodilator, and responds to dilator suggesting
reversible airflow limitation. Static lung volumes show a mildly elevated
functional residual capacity and severely increased residual volume.
Overall,
the results are consistent with very mild airflow limitation with a degree of
hyperinflation and gas trapping. On skin prick testing there was a positive
response to house dust, house dust mite, timothy grass, rye grass and pea
consistent with significant atopy.
